For over 100 years, St. Philip Neri School has been serving students in the Northwest/South region of the Bronx. Opened on September 8, 1913, by the Ursuline Sisters, under the leadership of Mother Jerome Oliver, O.S.U. and Msgr. Daniel F.X. Burke, St. Philip Neri School has preserved the Ursuline emphasis on service to the Church and the world. In fact, our School motto, Serviam, means "to serve".
Our school crest is designed in the Ursuline tradition and includes the cross of Christ surmounted by the stars of the constellation Ursa Minor (from which the name "Ursula" is derived). As the North Star, found in Ursula Minor, points the way for seafarers, so does Christ point the way for us.
